Meet Owner Jack Keener
Gunsmith and Certified Firearms Appraiser
Jack was born in Lincolnton, NC and grew up in Gastonia, Shelby, and Kings Mountain, NC. He attended Crest High School in Shelby and graduated from Hunter Huss High School in Gastonia. After high school, Jack attended Cleveland County Technical Institute and received a Diploma with a major in Welding. He welded for 8 years, and then managed a Jiffy Lube and AAMCO Transmission. In 1988, Jack moved to Raleigh, NC and started American Bail Bonds. During the time in the bonding business, he helped start the North Carolina Bail Agents Association and served on the Board of Directors for a few years. After the bonding business, Jack became a PI and did criminal defense investigations for attorneys in Johnston County, NC.
Jack opened Smoky Mountain Gunsmithing to provide professional solutions for your firearm problems—whether it’s a custom build, a general repair, or a need to know what your guns are worth for insurance purposes and/or to sell them for the most money.
